PlayBoy Mansion Tournament Sponsored by Full Tilt Poker

News have been revealed that Full Tilt Poker will become the sponsors of the next Kandy Masquerade tournament that is hosted at the PlayBoy Mansion in Los Angeles.

The tournament is a charity tournament that will feature a sexy costume ball theme, with all proceedings going to Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA).

The tournament will take place on Saturday 27th February and will begin at 20:00 EST and will feature a $1,000 per ticket fee with many having to get their tickets well in advance to avoid missing out on the tournament which has a proven track record to be very popular.

The tournament is being hosted by the Karma Foundation, a company that have already risen hundreds of thousands of dollars for a number of charities such as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Children’s Hospital of Orange County and AIDS Walk Los Angeles.

As a membership only club, people who are a member of the Karma Foundation have to have over $5,000 per year in order to renew their membership.

The NSPCA is no stranger to poker related donations, with Full Tilt Poker professional player Jennifer Harman hosting 2 other charity tournaments in their honor, raising $450,000 in donations.

The tournament time should prove to enable a number of professionals who are taking part in the World Poker Tour (WPT) L.A. Classic tournament due to the brands tournament organizer scheduling a break within the tournaments second day in order to allow players the opportunity to help the cause.

Antonius Breaks Own Pot Record On Full Tilt

November 25, 2009

All the big and exciting action over at Full Tilt Poker right now seems to be focused on the high-roller tables, and namely on the ongoing battle of Tom “durrrr” Dwan and the still unidentified Swedish sensation isildur1 against each other and big name Full Tilt Pros Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius.

Just last week we announced that, after isildur1 had swept $6 million off the high-stakes heads-up Pot Limit Omaha tables the previous week, he lost approximately $878,000 in a single pot to Patrik Antonius, giving Antonius the world’s record for the largest online poker pot ever won.

Well, apparently that wasn’t good enough for Antonius. Because just the other day (November 22, to be precise), he broke his own record by winning a larger single pot of over $1 million, also on Full Tilt Poker, and wouldn’t you know it? He once again claimed that prize from new rival, that irrepressible Swede isildur1?

The pot was $1,356,946, to be exact, and it now stands as the new world’s record for biggest online poker pot ever won. oVerall in that one sitting in which that record-breaking pot occurred, Isildur1 lost $2.1 million to Antonius.

Meanwhile, Phil Ivey has gotten into the battle, challenging Isildur1 several times over. He is the other player, along with Antonius, to be the only ones ever to beat Isildur1 (taking $2.1 million from him in one sitting); Tom Dwan is still trying. But in this most recent challenge, Ivey lost about $1.1 million of his take.

Poker Pros Pham and Mueller Among FTOPS XIV Winners

November 16, 2009

Full Tilt Poker has finished out another Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS XIV) and as of the series’ final day, yesterday, Sun, Nov 15th, the new $2.5 million main event winner is zhivago2. The second-biggest contest in FTOPS XIV was the 2-day event, a $2 million guaranteed tournament with a $2,500 buy-in that happened the previous day, Sat, Nov 14th, the winner of which was player by the name of obiedman.

s00tedj0kers89, meanwhile, was the first big winner of FTOPS XIV, claiming that title on Wed, Nov 4th at Event #1, a $216 six-max event with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool. This was one of a half-dozen FTOPS XIV events with a $1 million prize pool or higher. The other 3 biggest winners of the series being gametime1111, who won the $322 six-max rebuy event, Event #17, held on Wed, Nov 11th with a $1 million prize pool; Jakivi, who won Event #10, the $322 NL Holdem event held on Sun, Nov 8th with a $1.5 million prize pool; and omadjoped, winner of Event #12, the $1,000 6-max event held on Mon, Nov 9th with a $1.5 million prize pool.

In non-Holdem related FTOPS XIV news: RymesWOrange won the 7-game mix, Deception Pt won the Stud 8 event, Auspicious won the PLO event, legblch won the PLO/8 event, and poker pro David Pham winning the HORSE event. This fresh off the heels of hosting an event the same day. Another poker professional had a similarly synchronous victory, that being Greg Mueller who won the very event that he hosted, the Limit Holdem event on Thur Nov 12th.

$25K Heads-Up PLO World Championship Almost Here

November 13, 2009

The 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event may be behind us (alas, Phil Ivey didn’t take it all) and the Full Tilt Online Poker Series 14 (FTOPS XIV) is nearing the finish line. So what’s next for the avid online poker players and fans over at Full Tilt? It’s the $25K Heads-UP PLO World Championship.

Playing heads-up poker takes a special skill, and so does playing Pot Limit Omaha – but put the two together, and you have a challenge worthy of only the fiercest competitors. As such, you can expect to see Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, and other members of Team Full Tilt right there with you vying for the big prize, somewhere in the realm of over half-a-mil. You might even see the newest Team Full Tilt member, Tom “durrrr” Dwan there too (as he’s been known to have a particular affection for high-stakes heads-up pot limit Omaha). Of course, all these guys are paying the $25,000 buy-in. You have the chance to satellite yourself in for a whole lot less than that.

The competition in the 2009 Full Tilt Poker $25K PLO Heads-Up World Championship starts Saturday, November 21 at 3 pm ET, during which the player pool will be whittled down to 4 finalist who will go head-to-head, literally, the following day, Sunday, November 22, this time starting at 4 pm ET.

Even if you don’t think you have the muster for this event, you can still sit ringside and watch all the action go down.

Last year, it was an online player by the name of slaktarn, who won the $560,000 first prize, taking down Patrik Antonius in the final heads-up match.

Tom “durrrr” Dwan Joins Team Full Tilt

November 11, 2009

You may have heard the rumors bandied about that Tom “durrrr” Dwan, of the notorious $1 million challenge, the durrrr challenge, might be joining Team Full Tilt. Well it is neither rumor nor just a mere possibility anymore. Tom Dwan has officially signed on as the latest celebrity member of Full Tilt Poker’s team of sponsored pros.

Full Tilt has several ways of distinguishing sponsorships and endorsements, with their CardRunners coaches, their Friends of Full Tilt, even “regular old” Full Tilt Pros. But Team Full Tilt, well that’s another distinction altogether. There are many Red Pros, for example (so named because their names show up in red instead of black when they’re sitting at a table). But there are very few members of Team Full Tilt – 13, to be exact. Or now 14, rather.

Only the best pro poker players in the world are on Team Full Tilt, including 7th place winner at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event, Phil Ivey. We wonder if there’s any connection between the currently running 14th Full Tilt Online Poker Series and the timely addition of the 14th member of Team Full Tilt to the team.

Ironically enough, another member of Team Full Tilt, the last one to join the team, in fact, back in June of 2008, Patrik Antonius has been locked in battle with Tom Dwan in his infamous durrrr challenge. What is it they say about strange bedfellows?

In helping publicize this news, fellow Team Full Tilt member Chris “Jesus” Ferguson points out that durrrr started his poker career on Full Tilt Poker with just a $40 deposit.

FTOPS XIV Underway: Winners & Weekend

November 6, 2009

The Full Tilt Online Poker Series XIV is in full swing, having kicked off on Wednesday (or Wednesday, November 4) with Event #1 the $200 + $16 NL Hold’em 6-max $1 million guarantee event hosted by Full Tilt Pro Allen Cunningham, and the FTOPS XIV’s first winner was declared. s00tedj0kers89 was his (or her?) name, beating out 4,693 other players to take the first prize of $120,000; runner-up was kev19 who took the respectable $115,000 second prize. There were 29 Full Tilt Red Pros competing in the event, and 600 players cashed.

Yesterday (or Thursday, November 5) saw two events go down: Event #3, the $200 + $16 6-max 7 game mix, with a $150,000 prize pool to which 838 players turned out and RymesWOrange took first prize; and Event #4, the $500 + $35 3x shootout with a $300,000 prize pool to which 729 players showed up and chrispeace took first prize.

That’s three winners down, twenty-two to go. And even though action is well underway, satellites are still going on too over at Full Tilt Poker for FTOPS XIV events, including the $2.5 million guaranteed main event.

Today’s event, #4, is a $200 + $16 Stud/8 event hosted by Jennifer Harman and boasting a $100,000 prize pool. Then this weekend sees a ton of action at the FTOPS XIV, or 5 to be precise.

3 on Saturday, November 7:

  • $109 NL Holdem w/rebuys for $600,000
  • $256 NL Holdem 6-max Knockout for $800,000

and 2 on Sunday, November 8:

Phil Ivey Wins $1.1 Million In One Night At Full Tilt High Stakes HORSE Tables

October 16, 2009

As Full Tilt Poker and players are gearing up for the next Full Tilt Online Poker series with the FTOPS XIV Warm-Up, poker legend Phil Ivey is gearing up for the November 7 final table of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event with a little warming up of his own. And at his last Wednesday, October 7 warm-up he was downright hot! To the temperature of $1.1 million dollars hot.

That’s right, Phil Ivey continued to prove why he’s Phil Ivey by racking up a $1.1 million dollar night at Full Tilt Poker on Monday. Interestingly enough, though, he was there playing No Limit Holdem, as he will be in the 2009 WSOP Main Event Final Table. He wasn’t even playing high-stakes Pot Limit Omaha like he often does at the site (though it was most definitely high-stakes).

Instead he was playing at Full Tilt’s Fixed Limit HORSE tables.

Among those falling to Phil Ivey’s prowess (with the amount of the biggest contributors’ losses to Ivey on his big night noted in parentheses) were the likes of Patrick Antonius, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond ($444,000), Chau Giang ($289,000), Tom “durrrr” Dwan ($343,000), David Oppenheim ($245,000), Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, and Cole South.

Phil Ivey is one of Full Tilt Poker’s official Team FullTilt Pros and can often be seen at the high-roller cash ring game tables at Full Tilt Poker, especially in the games of Pot Limit Omaha, Fixed Limit H.O.R.S.E, and the newest addition to Full Tilt Poker’s cash game lineup, the increasingly popular 7-Game Mix.

Get a Piece of Ivey With New Full Tilt Promotion

October 7, 2009

Starting tomorrow, October 7, 2009, Full Tilt Poker is running a new promotion it calls the Piece of Ivey, named obviously for Full Tilt Poker pro, 2009 November Niner, and one of the most successful poker players in the world, Phil Ivey.

Up for grabs? A share of Phil Ivey’s winnings at the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table. To be precise: 6% of his winnings plus an added $150,000 by Full Tilt.

How it works is like this: Players earn tickets by playing at cash game tables at Full Tilt Poker. The tickets are then entered into a raffle drawing. Actually 3 raffle drawings.

There’s a “5% of Ivey” drawing in which 9 players earn a seat in an exclusive Sit & Go, with the total prize pool at stake equal to 5% of Phil’s WSOP Main Event take. That drawing will occur at 10 pm ET on Friday, November 6 with the special Sit & Go taking place the next day, November 7, at 2 pm ET.

There’s a “1% of Ivey” drawing in which players vie for seats in an exclusive $50,000 freeroll tournament, the winner of which will get, besides largest share of the pot, an addition 1% of Ivey’s 2009 WSOP Main Event take. The drawing for the $50K Freeroll is November 6 at 10 pm ET and the tournament is November 7 at 2 pm.

Finally, there are cash prize drawing daily, with over 600 cash prizes awarded every day throughout the Piece of Ivey promo. These “Daily Cash Draws” will happen every morning at 6 am ET. In all, $150,000 will be given away this way.
