The 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event may be behind us (alas, Phil Ivey didn’t take it all) and the Full Tilt Online Poker Series 14 (FTOPS XIV) is nearing the finish line. So what’s next for the avid online poker players and fans over at Full Tilt? It’s the $25K Heads-UP PLO World Championship.
Playing heads-up poker takes a special skill, and so does playing Pot Limit Omaha – but put the two together, and you have a challenge worthy of only the fiercest competitors. As such, you can expect to see Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, and other members of Team Full Tilt right there with you vying for the big prize, somewhere in the realm of over half-a-mil. You might even see the newest Team Full Tilt member, Tom “durrrr” Dwan there too (as he’s been known to have a particular affection for high-stakes heads-up pot limit Omaha). Of course, all these guys are paying the $25,000 buy-in. You have the chance to satellite yourself in for a whole lot less than that.
The competition in the 2009 Full Tilt Poker $25K PLO Heads-Up World Championship starts Saturday, November 21 at 3 pm ET, during which the player pool will be whittled down to 4 finalist who will go head-to-head, literally, the following day, Sunday, November 22, this time starting at 4 pm ET.
Even if you don’t think you have the muster for this event, you can still sit ringside and watch all the action go down.
Last year, it was an online player by the name of slaktarn, who won the $560,000 first prize, taking down Patrik Antonius in the final heads-up match.
